Following a surprise visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Leh, Ladakh to review the ground situation between the Indo-China border locations on Friday, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan convened a high-level defense meeting on Friday. The purpose of the meeting was to assess the internal and external security situation in the country.

The meeting was attended by Imran Khan, Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raja and Army Chief General Kamar Javed Bajwa. In addition, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmud Abbasi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan and Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence Lt. Gen. Fayez Hamid also attended the meeting.
After reviewing the security situation, officials pledged to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty at all costs, PTI reported.
“It has resolved that Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence with its neighbors but has both the will and the power to protect our people and territorial integrity,” the prime minister’s office said in a statement.
