Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, IPS, appointed as the new Chennai Police Commissioner; Other changes in the TN police force

IPS officers underwent major reshuffle in Tamil Nadu amid ongoing protests in Thututhudi over the conservative deaths of two shopkeepers in Tamil Nadu. The TN government has replaced Chennai Police Commissioner AK Bishwanathan, IPS, and 36 IPS officers have been transferred across the state.

Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, IPS, ADGP (Operations) has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Greater Chennai Police as per the Home Secretary’s order. Regarding IPS Bishwanathan, the Tamil Nadu government has announced the promotion and transfer of 39 IPS officers and he has now been posted.

Mahesh Kumar Agarwal is a 1994 batch Indian Police Service officer. Prior to his role as ADGP (Operations), he held several senior positions in the Army. He has served as Inspector of Police in the Crime Branch – Crime Investigation Division. He was earlier also the Police Commissioner of Madurai City.

  2. ADGP Mahesh Kumar Agarwal is the new commissioner of Chennai.
  3. Sunil Kumar, the uniformed DGP of Dirbanya, has been transferred to the DGP of the State Human Rights Commission.
  4. Davidson Debasarbatam, who was appointed as Madurai Police Commissioner, has been named ADGP of ADGP Technical Department.
  5. ADGP Robi has been transferred to Special Police Erode Division.
  6. IG Jayaram has been appointed as IG of Central Zone.
  7. IG Amalraj Madras of Madhya Pradesh. He has been appointed as the Chief IG.
  8. IG Ganeshmurti of Chennai has been appointed IG of the Economic Crimes Unit.
  9. Chennai North Zone Additional Commissioner Dinakaran – Chennai South Zone Additional Commissioner has been appointed.
  10. Chennai Additional Commissioner of Traffic Arun has been appointed as Additional Commissioner.
  11. Tripura Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar will be appointed as the IG of Madras Technical Department
  12. Lohanathan Trichy, DIG of Tanjoy, has been promoted to the post of Commissioner of Police.
  13. Chennai North Joint Commissioner Kapil Kumar has been promoted and C Sarathkar IG has been appointed as CBCID IG.
  14. DIG Kannan has been promoted to IGP and Additional Commissioner Madras has been appointed.
  15. Santosh Kumar, who is the Bilupuram DIG, has been promoted to the post of Madras Police Commissioner and appointed as IG.
  16. Kanchipuram DIG Madras has been promoted to the post of Additional Commissioner, Central Crime Branch.
  17. Coimbatore DIG Karthikayan has been promoted to IG and posted as Tirpur Police Commissioner.
  18. Dindigul DIG Joshi Nirmal Kumar has been promoted to IG and has been posted as IG, Chennai Extension Department.
  19. Coastguard Group DIG Bhubaneswari has been promoted to IG and has been posted as Chennai IG (General).
  20. Trichy DIG Balakrishnan has been transferred and posted as Joint Commissioner, Chennai North.
  21. Vijay Kumari, Joint Commissioner, Chennai West Region, has been transferred as DIG, Coastguard Group.
  22. Maheshwari, who is the Deputy Commissioner of Chennai South Zone, has been appointed as the Joint Commissioner of Chennai Police.
  23. Ilalarson Bilupuram, Joint Commissioner, Chennai Transport South, has been transferred to DIG.
  24. Sentil Kumari, DIG, Chennai Armed Forces, has been posted as DIG, Chennai Headquarters.
  25. Madurai DIG Annie Vijaya has been transformed into Tri DIG.
  26. Narendran Nair, DIG (Administration), Chennai, has been transferred to DIG, Coimbatore.
  27. Ramnathpuram DIG Rupesh Kumar Meena Tanjoy has been transferred to DIG.
  28. Abhishek Dixit, who is on the sidelines, has been promoted as DIG and continues as DIG.
  29. CBCID Criminal Investigation-2 SP Mallika has been promoted to the post of DIG.
  30. Kanchipuram District SP Chamundiswari has been promoted as DIG and Kanchipuram Saraka continues as DIG.
  31. Lakshmi, who is the SP of the Community Intelligence Unit, has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of the Chennai (South) Transport Department.
  32. Rajeshwari has been promoted as DIG of Madhya Pradesh and has been posted as DIG of Chennai Armed Forces.
  33. Uniform SP Pandian has been promoted to DIG Chennai and Railways has been promoted to DIG post.
  34. Anna Nagar Deputy Commissioner Mutusami has been promoted to the post of DIG and Dindigul to the post of DIG.
  35. Madras Transport Deputy Commissioner (South) Milevaganan has been promoted to the post of DIG and Ramanathapuram has been posted as DIG.
  36. Chennai Security Deputy Commissioner Radhakrishnan has been posted as Bilupuram SP.
