Jordan Sancho celebrates goal with Dortmund win ‘Justice for George Floyd’ undershirt

Dortmund’s thin title against the club below the Bundesliga has raised hopes, but in Floyd’s death it was Sancho’s performance and his personal protests that proved the key.

Dortmund were 1-0 up through Thorgan Hazard when Sancho scored his first goal since the Bundesliga resumption, quickly throwing his team’s shirt to convey the message, which earned him a yellow card from the referee.

After Dortmund’s fourth score, his teammate Ashraf Hakimi pulled off his shirt to display an undershirt of the same word.

They were joined by other Bundesliga stars who protested the death of Floyd, 46, who died during the arrest of a police officer in Minneapolis, who knelt him on the ground for a few minutes.

Earlier on Sunday, French striker Marcus Thuram scored twice in Borussia Mচেnchengladbach’s 4-1 win over Union Berlin and knelt in homage to the Black Lives Matter movement.

U.S. midfielder Weston McKenney was playing an armband on Saturday, retaining the word “Justice for George” during his team’s home defeat to Werder Bremen.

The 20-year-old Sancho is one of the hottest assets in world football, scoring 17 goals and 16 assists for the season with his first senior hat-trick.

Dortmund were held to 0-0 at halftime, but Hazard’s goal broke the deadlock before concluding the match on a scoresheet with Sancho Hakimi and Marcel Schmelzer.

Dortmund still have seven points from the win over Adrift leader Bayern Munich, with a 5-0 win over Fortune Dেলsseldorf, but a timely win over Midwick at Bayern’s ‘Der Classicar’.

Borussia Moechengaldbach’s 4-0 win took them to third and Champions League places.
